Myspace or Their Space?

Okay so I began jotting down my ideas about myspace, facebook, mediated and unmediated social relations after reading the articles about social network sites. I decided to make a short film instead of writing it out. In every way these sites represent a multi-modal experience of networking which includes film in our discourse.

cheers.

ps. I went through a couple versions of the credits and mistakenly left out the song credit:

Hooray for Humans by Q and Not U from the album, No Kill No Beep Beep on Dischord Records.

I LOVE it!!! I like the incorporation of how consumer marketing and data analysis play a somewhat invasive role in social networking. On my MySpace page, I entered "subs, hoagies, grinders" in response to the "heroes" question. I always have at least one ad on my homepage for Subway or Quizno's as a result. It doesn't actually bother me terribly, because I doubt someone will come along in 30 years and accuse me of liking sandwiches, and also I think it is just algorithmic software at play, but I can definitely see the cause for concern that some people have. Granted, if I did not want anyone to know something, I would most likely not post it anywhere online, but I think teenagers, who are still learning life's lessons, are not aware of many repercussions of things like this.
Great work!
